Hey, if you get two different colored ones in the same shell, I can use that in my book.

Great pic.

AAAARRRGGGGGGHHHHHH. WORKING ON IT EVERY CHANCE I GET, BUT NOT SURE WHEN IT'LL BE OUT.

YEAH, THAT WELL COULD BE THE FIRST DOUBLE-OCCUPANCY EGG FOR AN ULTRAMEL. LOL.

Well, maybe next time, eh? As much as I'm looking forward to the book, I won't complain about having two ultramels het blood instead of an ultramel and "just an amel." LOL.

Thanks to everyone for the posts!

...for the record, they were both males so we'll never know if they come from one fertilized oocyte or two. As far as I know, there are no "extra" genes floating around that I could test for to see if one got it or the other didn't. Since they are males, they won't hang around here long enough to breed, anyway!

WELL, at least its cool you got twins.... keep the pics for future memories... And wouldnt it be odd if it were 1 male and 1 female!?!?! i just assumed they would be 1 sex. Was the egg larger than all the others or just normal looking??? congrats anyway

Normal looking egg, and the babies aren't much smaller than the siblings. Usually, these "twins" are just like a double yolked chicken egg. 2 "eggs" get wrapped in up in one shell, so they are just like all the other siblings in that clutch. They just had to share an egg due to their bad luck! LOL

this is really pointless, but i used to have chickens and i would give the eggs away to friends... and 1 egg had 3 yolks,... thought that was interesting... but it was a HUGE egg!!!

Every once in a while, my hens give me a double yolk egg, and those have been my favorite since I was a child. I like fried eggs with the "brain's runny" - which is over medium now that I'm an adult.....lol - so those are perfect for me.

Best egg I ever had was a double yolked goose egg. Even regular goose eggs are large, so you can imagine how large THAT one was. I haven't had one of those in years, but we did have turkey eggs for breakfast. We stole them from some friends down the road who have a couple of domestic turkey......lol.
