Striped Dione clutch

souix Jun 18, 2008 07:03 PM

I'd just like to share some images of my two year old yellow Striped Dione Ratsnake's clutch.

A week before laying doing a pretty good impresonation of a python

Totally amazed by the glow effect of the egg, which clearly shows how advanced this species eggs are at the point of laying.

9 eggs within her coils and a stray one to the side, as you can see the 'glowing' eggs soon whiten up.

All laid out in a mixture of vermiculite & pearlite

One of the eggs candled dirctly after laying, showing the advanced embryo.

These are expected to hatch somewhere between 13-21 days, she laid the clutch 28 days after her pre-laying slough with an approx 52 gestation taken from the first copulation witnessed.

Hope you enjoyed :-D

Great post, Sue! Fascinating pics of the well-developed, freshly layed eggs. Very nice female dione, as well. Can't wait to breed my South Koreans next year.

Hopefully some nice babies will hatch.

Best regards,
Gidi
