whats left of my Gentilis clutch........

mike_panic Jun 19, 2008 08:11 AM

This clutch went from being a nice perfect seven egg clutch to having five eggs go to full term. At 54 days at 80 degrees, only two hatclings pipped which is no big deal really because I always slit all the eggs after one has pipped. Anyway, three were D.I.E.(dead in egg). Freakin bummer! Anyway these two survived and the one has a really nice read head. Thanks for looking. Mike Panichi

Love a cute red head. I have one red headed gentilis but its rare to have much red. Mine is red mixed with black Sorry you lost the eggs. I lost some eggs too this year from a temporalis clutch. You snakes look very bright , have they shed already ?

these are from a intergrade area not pure gentilis

believe it or not, thats right out of the egg. One of the ones that was DIE was very bright as well. Maybe next year I'll have better luck with their eggs. Thanks

That's too bad you lost a couple,...but the ones that made it certainly look outstanding!

Major bummer with 3 dead nates but you've got one of the best gentilis hatchlings this line has ever produced - champagne all around!! I'll go out on that lonely limb and call it hypo.
Not sure why some nates never slit and hatch out but suspect that the shell toughens a bit when the moisture/humidity is a tad too low and the shell becomes 'denser'.
I see the same prob with some clutches of mine.
You've got one hell of a gentilis hatchling there Mike - freakin awesome!

Mike,

Great stuff! That little red-head is smokin', buddy. The animals from that line are some of the best gentilis I've ever seen or worked with. Such robust little guys, too!

Sorry about the losses... though man I dunno if that branch is strong enough to support two. I'm w/ Jeff that looks very much like a hypo to me! Even if it weren't it'd be an amazing snake... nicest I've seen of that line.

Good luck w/ them,
Chris

Sorry to hear that you had 3 D.I.E., but that one redhead makes up for it. Please post pics as he/she matures.
