Mex Mex Female keeps regurgitating her meals

totallyreptiles Sep 01, 2003 09:11 PM

I need some advice. I have a mex mex female that has regurgitated her last 4 meals. She laid 14 eggs in the spring then dropped 10 more in July. In the beginning of august she regurgitated a large rat pup. I thought maybe it could have been to large for her but that is what she normally eats, so i tried fuzzy mice and she regurgitated them up also. Any suggestions. She is 6 years old. She is in a rack system that is kept at 87 degrees. Nothing has changed. Same substrate, same temperature. I am going to wait for her next stool sample and take it to the vet.

She probably was weak after her second clutch and even a normal sized meal made her regurgitate. When she regurged she lost some of her natural digestive juices weakening her further.
Nutri-Bac replenishes the natural bacteria in the digestive juices. I have used this product and it has worked wonders. It's a powder so if the snake will take a meal give it a small fuzzie with just a little bit of the powder on the fuzzies hindal quarters. Chances are the snake will hold the meal down. After two small meals with Nutri-Bac about 5-7 days apart the snake should be back to normal.
