Help with feeding snakes

bertcash Sep 01, 2003 09:35 PM

I recently bought new feeder boxes for my snakes. Most everyone has taken to them except for a ball python and a california king. I got the ball python to eat 2 mice in her enclosure and the king to eat one. How would I go about getting them to eat in the feeding boxes.
My other question is that the king snake that I bought was eating three mice a week. As of right now he has only eaten one. Is this normal for a new snake to not eat as much as he has been.
Last question. I recently hatched corn snakes and they have finally shedded. I have only gotten one of them to eat so far. How long should I wait until I try again.

Thanks Bert

I was hoping to get an answer soon for my questions. I guess most of you think I am some kid that needs to stop buying snakes and let some of them go. So I will tell you a little bit about me as to why I ask these question. All my previous snakes were boas and pythons. I used them for educational pruposes in the school systme where I live. Never had any eating problems with my snakes, what I am experiencing now is new.
Now that I have gotten a little older I have discovered that alot of people around here will kill a snake first and then ask questions later. So I decided to start using indiginous snakes for my classes. These have proven to b harder to deal with. My mother is a liscenced animal rehabber for GA. She can identify snakes and help with injured but has little experience in raising snakes.
As of right now everything is eating except for what I asked about. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
