07 hypo lavender male

wisema2297 Jun 20, 2008 01:12 PM

This guy is still very light colored. I tried my best to get a good picture and this is the closest I could get to showing his true colors. He is still a few shades lighter than this picture shows. I tried outdoors in the shade as well as indoors. Any othger suggestions as to how I can more accurately catch his true colors? He is really a lot more pink colored than this photo shows.

Wow!,..Ralph!

That thing is gorgeous!,.....quite a bit lighter than mine as well, but both showing their very diverse look display awesome colors unique to one another.

I know what you mean about trying to get accurate photo representaions of exactly what they look like in person. I've also moved the snake around in different types of light, and the animal looks like a totally different snake in each different setting!........It just seems to take a bunch of experimentation when it comes to snakes and their colors. It's been something I've been trying to deal with for quite some time, with ALL SORTS of different species,......a real pain in the butt sometimes indeed!..LOL!

This was taken outside in filtered shade, and is a fair representation of what he actually looks like, although he's probably a tad lighter than the photo shows. His eyes are also DEEP "ruby/blood-red, but also doesn't show that way in most shots either. I have to get just the right lighting and angle to capture the eye color most of the time.

anyway,...that Hypo Lav. you got there is outstanding!

Thanks Doug!! Unfortunately I will not be producing any of these this year since the female slugged out on me. Next year should be good because this male will be big enough to breed back to his mother and hypo lav sibling. That male of yours is killer also!! We will have to swap some hypo lav stock in the future to introduce some genetic variety while maintaining the quality we both have.

This is an older pic of the female sibling I held back

That sounds like a plan Ralph!, but it will be a long while until I produce homozygous offspring, but as you know, all things worth while take a little time..LOL!. This '07 male is the only one I have, so I'll be breeding him to a nice looking W/C female I captured from Brevard County, on the central east coast of Florida to produce hets next year. The good news of course is that the W/C female will introduce some "new blood" to maintain good genetic vigor!....nothing wrong with nice hets though!,...right?

You've probably seen her posted here before, but just in case, here's a pic of her. This is the nice photo of her that I won the photo contest with that's posted over on the "General" snake forum at the top of the page. BTW, thanks for the nice compliment on my hypo Lavender as well!

Good luck with your sweet projects!

Keep me in mind when you get those hets from the wc. I would love to introduce the new wc genes into my collection, while producing hypo lavs at the same time. That girl is a great looking corn in her own right!!

Will do Ralph!,.......and thanks for the kind words about the W/C girl too!
