Avg. First Year Production?

dacherrypicker Jun 20, 2008 03:52 PM

What is that average egg production for a first year female. About 1600 grams? Bred with a Bumblebee to Normal. Thanks and just wondering. Someone told me they had a 1300 gram female drop 6 eggs her first year seemed like kind of alot. Thanks in advance and happy herping!

I just had last week a 2006 1650 gram female lay 7 egg's.
Another 1700 gram pastel only lay 3 egg's.
Basically anything is possible, hope this answer's the question.

Just a few ...2 1700 grammers 8 and 6, 1400 -- 5, 1350 -- 5, 1300 -- 5.

(1250 2 slugs -- I had to go for it. She is a c.h. Shatter Pattern that I am certain will prove -- looks like next season.)

This year I had 2 virgins between 1600-1700 - one layed 6 and the other 7...

A 1200 that had 4 huge follicles that I didn't want to waste so I put a boy with her. She is due to lay any day...

I also had 3 virgins between 1400-1700 that did not take, even though I felt follicles at some point....

6 is average......you can get 2 to 10.......yes I had one third year female lay 10 her first time.....7 and 8 is my average......and yes I have a few 3 egg batches now......never had them before...new bloodlines......smaller batches....

......they lay what they want.....no matter what size...you can get 4 from 3500 gram females.....sometimes.....

so.......6 to 8......

Jeff,

Have you ever tried supplimenting with calcium in your females prior to egg laying? I was thinking about trying this and seeing if it affected eggshell quality or production rates.

I know they receive their calcim already, but I have been considering trying this next year.

Definitely depends on the female I just got 6 from a 3500g female, and I got 5 from a 1200g girl.

Wow didnt expect that big of a response. She is due in 7 days. She seems to be getting really restless. Roaming her cage alot and then during the day she just lays on her side. I have only sen her lay on her back once though. Is that about normal. Is there a way to feel how many eggs she has in her. She is pretty feisty it seems like and I dont want to stress her out if that has any effect at this late. Thanks!

Ohh yea one more thing. I have a poss. gravid that has been laying on her side a number of occasions. I fed a couple of my other animals yesterday and since I didnt know if she was gravid I went ahead and tried to feed her and she took it. Is that a good sign that she is NOT gravid? Thanks again!

kinderman Jun 21, 2008 04:01 PM

If she ate she's not gravid. She is likely building when she is on her sides in odd positions. She is likely getting close!!!!
