Hi Gerrit,
You know you are on to something really special please keep me informed of how the project goes. I purchased one last year that has a good bit of abberancies along with his sister but they are at least a few years off of breeding. Here ia a pic of the male, I will try and get u an updated pic later today along with one of his sister.

Michelle and Gerrit,

Do either one of you remember Chris Baubels' aberrant thayeri he produced years ago? Both of your pics remind of Chris' thayeri. He never named them leopard but he did produce many orange and buckskin specimens with the alternating side saddles.......

BTW....Those pics were fantastic.....

John, yes I remeber them. He produced some really outstanding ones and still does.
email me and I will let you know what I got going this year. I have misplaced your address.
Take care

I think it was Dan V who coined the phrase "leopard leonis".

That one you posted a pic of has that Dan V "look" to it Michelle.

I had a leopard leonis that was D.I.E. (died in egg) last year that was truly AWESOME from the LE clutch. Dan V's white line definately had some of the leopard leonis genes floating around in them. There should be more of those showing up in the future.

I know Mike B has one or two of those and John Cherry has got some too.

And I agree the ones Burnsy and Chris Babel helped produce are excellent.

Chris, the one pictured is from the Dan V. leopard line, I got 2.1 of them. They are still to small to go yet. I have 1 male that will go next year but the other pair will have to wait another 2 probaly.

Hi Gerrit

Very nice animals. I work with a few aberants myself. I have a few greenish aberrant from Chris Baubel that he has been producing for years as well as an animal produced last year by my Orange VR Milksnake phase bred to an outcrossed Orange "okeetee"-like Leonis VR/Applegate female that produced the animals below. I also got an aberrant Orange Leonis VR line female to match this male. Since thayeri overlapped with some of the Jaguars' range (although extirpated) I labeled with "Jaguar" Thayeri for now because of the similarities in their pattern with thicker borders of their aberrant blotches. They are also unproven at this time but I did the same breeding to see what will again result. We will see.

Those jaguar thayeri are are very nice Jonel, especially that 1st one. I like those dark borders too.

And as far as Jaguars being extirpated in traditional thayeri ranges I wouldn't count them out yet. They have been expanding their range. Several have been seen near Monterey Mexico.

This one was found here in New Mexico in late 2006. There have been sightings in AZ too but not confirmed with pictures. This one was found in the boot heel of NM. The guy who found this one has spotted them on several occasions while running his dogs for mountains lions and has become the expert on them here and in AZ. He called his dogs off after taking these and a few more pics and watched this big cat trot off. He's nicknamed this cat "Borderking".

They are on the endangered species list for good reason. They are protected internationally.

I really love the first one, I bet you were surprised when that one hatched out. BTW the female I got from you bred this year. Here she is, I crossed her with a yellow Dan V. male.

Hey Jonel,
Thank you, I really like her, she is very clean and just a beautiful thayeri. I started to hold her back one more year but at the last decided to go ahead and breed her. Since this is her first year I don't expect a whole lot from her but will let you know how she does. I am expecting her to go into a pre egg lay shed anyday. She was bred to the yellow male in the pic, who I some how cut off his head when the picture was taken.
