Another pile of baby Northern Pines...

nodaksnakelover Jun 22, 2008 12:42 AM

By the time I took pics of this clutch, most were already in shed by the time the last couple slid out of their eggs. Plus I was gone on a short family vacation. Anyhow, here is my second pile of baby Northern Pines plus pics of their parents. I'm going to have a hard time letting ANY of these go. But I certainly can't keep them all! And the baby in my hand, has me smiling! He's going to be a real smoker someday! And there's another brother that is not quite as less of pattern but in a similar vein. Very interesting! Enjoy the pics!

Russ,
Very nice clutch. See that one in your hand is the type I like...different. Hope you had a nice vacation. We are heading to Canada with the boy scouts for a week starting the 4th of July. Wanted to stop by John's if he was available but it doesn't look like we will be going that direction. Oh well maybe one of these days.

Take care,
Jeff Port

One of those has some neck striping going on, very cool. Nice looking clutch Russ. I'm expecting mine soon....

Nice - lucky you! I was hoping to raise some myself by next year, but the 04 pair which I have had for a year, turned out to both be male. I finally got around to probing them yeaterday. Since they were nearly 3 years old when I bought them I just wasn't worried about it. What do yuu do with 2.0 04 N. Pines?

huh, been there myself! Bought two White Oak Gray Rats from someone. DUMBLY didn't pop them myself when I got them in. And years later as I'm looking at two HUGE gray rats, I'm scratching my head wondering why I'm not seeing any breeding action. And then I looked at their tails...real hard...and realized...they were both boys..GAH! So I feel your pain. If I was you? well, I'd buy two females and raise em up if my intention is to breed the males. Or if you think you can buy better males than what you have, try to pawn them off on someone. Personally I'd try to buy a pair or two over again. As I like my pairs closer in age and size. And with pines, it seems smaller males are better breeders. But anyhow, thanks for the compliment. They are starting to shed now. Purty! I want to keep em all! Oh well, by the time October rolls around, I'll be ready to get rid of them at Tinley. Maybe...
