Hey Ya'all ever seen this before?

lizardhut42 Sep 01, 2003 11:10 PM

I just found these mislabled in a petshop here in Portland as a Tanganika Forest Gecko. Not a gecko but I bought both anyway they are just too cool. Could they be a skink of some kind? About 3in long, and they have a forked toungue I think.

It does look very much like one of the flat rock lizard species.

It looks to be a skink (most likely a juvinal). I have no Idea as to where it is from. We have many north American skinks that look similar, especially as juvys. They also remind me of some tiny skinks that I saw on many of the Islands in French Polynesia (Tahiti). They were one of two lizard species that could be found on those islands. The other was the indo-Pacific Gecko of which I saw some very large specimens. I spent most of my time at night chasing them around. Many of the locals thought I was off my rocker.

I've gotten that look from the locals as well.

I cant remeber the real (latin) name but its often known as a blue tailed rock lizard. They get like tops usually like 6 inches. Its a species of cordylus. Insect eaters of corse and they need to be set up alot like a collard lizard cage but i bit more rocky. They like flat stones alot. I think diurnal.

Thats about all I know . Theres not alot of info out there for nimals like that.

Best Wishes
