Reptile vets in Sacramento Ca, or nearby area?

virmilion Sep 01, 2003 11:34 PM

Hi, I havent had my tortoise examined yet, partly because I have no idea who to take it to. I have heard from a friend who asked the local turtle and tortoise club president that there are no decent reptile vets in the Sacramento area. She(the club president)doesnt take her torts to a vet because she doesnt think there are any worth taking them to.

I find this hard to believe with it being a large city... there has to be at least one. Is there anyone from around here who can recommend one for me?

BTW there is nothing wrong with my tort, but I would rather be prepared in case I need it then scramble when its necessary

thanks.

Hi Virmillion,

Susan L Solomon
2912 Sierra Mills Ln
Sacramento, CA 95864

Jody P. Nugent-Deal
1709 1/2 Markham Way
Sacramento, CA 95818

These are two vets that are part of ARAV.org. It's a good resource for finding herp vets. Check the link attached too as there may be others in neighboring cities that are close to you.

I live in SF and also would find it hard to believe that no herp vets are near you in Sac.

Good luck!

I live in the Sacramento area. I take all my reptiles to Karen Pazzi. She travels to and from several hospitals in the area. She is wonderful and knows her stuff!

Yes. If you call Natomas animal medical center at 916-925-6138 they will be able to tell you what area hospital she will be at and what days etc.She travels between a few hospitals in there medical group. Karen Pazzi (pos-i) is her name she is an exotic vet.

Hi
I also just moved to the Sacto area. I don't have any vet connections up here yet, but if I had a problem, I would go directly to U.C. davis vet school. It is 20 minutes west of Sact. and you will get cutting edge vet help there, althogh it will cost you. I have hi end tort's (Galapagos Torts)so I would not mind paying extra $. I used to be a vet tech specialising in reptiles for 10 years and I hope I don't run into something over my head, but it's nice to know I can go somewhere where they know more than I do.
