I caught a barred male this weekend, took a few pics and decided to release him under a board. When I lifted the board I found Mom under it. Since it was too dark for any more pictures, I decided to keep them over night. I gave them a bowl of mealies to make up for the inconvenience. He was clueless, but Mom remembered what to do
She doesn't seem to have lost much weight since I released her over 2 months ago (look at her tail compared to his). Here's the group shot I took of them and my 3 pets. All but the gold juvi came from the same 1/2 acre, my backyard. Mom and the male (he's the dark gold barred one with the stub tail btw) have since been released.

Hi Alice ,
I love this pic !!! Being from California ( I live in Ohio now ) I know alligator lizards well but never have seen any with so much red . Where did you find them ? When I lived in Mar Vista I would always find every color but that one . Also some wich had orange and white or a salt and pepper color . Same with Atascadero . Wonderful lizards and make good pets . I use to have some that would eat from my hand . Although I had a couple of males that tried to eat my hand
.

All came from Santa Barbara County CA. The gold juvi was found in the Lompoc area and the other 4 were found in my backyard in Orcutt (just south of Santa Maria).

I know right where Orcutt is . Been there a few times . Not a long drive from Atascadero . Some great herps in that area . I am just so impressed by the two reds you have . They look in the bloom of health .
Mom had some nice looking babies . I have been trying to find some ALs through dealers but have not met with much success . I really do miss them .
