A ??? for those smarter then me

Ophidia_Junkie Jun 23, 2008 08:56 PM

I had this little freak of nature born here on April 1st. I think she's a fools day joke or something.

The pairing was a Salmon DH Coral Sunglow, to an aberrant female I have with a little reverse stripe going on. But the baby has some weird looks to her. She looks Salmon, but not. Like she almost tried, but didn't quite get there. Notice all the muted black scales on her side, and around every saddle too...

Not that it matters, i just thought it sorta out of the norm, and wondered what others make of it. It's her tail that counts anyway. LOL

But I really am curious what others think of those muted black scales around the saddles and on her sides.

Thanks for looking, and any input.

Weird shaped head? I don't see that from my end. Must be the picture.

She has been in ICU since birth though. She almost didn't recover from mom trampling her a good one. It's been SQ fluids and feeding needles for this one up until last week. Now she seems to be kicking it in gear now.

The underslung bottom jaw and the way the nose slopes past the nostrils are what I'm looking at. I've seen a few Boas that looked exactly like what you're trying to point out, but they all had to be messed with at birth. It's something to do with gestation, just don't know what.

Well, if you ever pin point it, or want to share what you've observed already, feel free to shoot me an email. I got into this stuff to learn mostly. Sounds like something to possibly be learned right there.

Mom did have a gestation glitch, and ran a bit hotter then I would have preferred. It wasn't caught, because the sensors got moved to the edge of the heat some how, and the readouts were spot on. But the middle got hot.

Thanks!

Wow Richard, Lets see a full body shot of that Animal.. That Tail is unreal.. It looks like a dark Gee line Hypo,You know the Orange tail line. It even has the reduced eye pattern..

I have noticed that in some of the Gee line Sunglows or DH's the normal baby Albino Boas look almost like they wanted to be a Sunglow.. Thats a Very Nice Boa. It most have some Orange tail hypo in that line. Can I see a full body shot of Her,Coiled whatever She has to look wicked with that tail..

Mom is an unknown origin female with a reverse striped tail. An ex classroom animal. I bought dad as an F1 Leubking Salmon Het Albino. Neither, as far back as I can trace, have any Gee bloodlines in them.

The Salmons in this litter, both normal Salmons, and reversed stripe Salmons, are obviously Salmons. This is the only one that has this odd look to her black scales. Sorta like "Huh? Where'd you come from?"

Anyway, thanks for the input.

I believe the dark speckling has something to do with the reduced saddles. The dark (black spots) seem to be trying to fill in what should be the saddle area. That's how this looks to me. I'd also put this Boa in the het Albino category as well.
