Intemediate shed question

nickstone Jun 24, 2008 02:46 AM

So I had a female that was bred pretty heavily earlier this year, she had her POS on April 24, she has been getting bigger and showing some scale separation ever since. I fed her a very small rat last week and today I noticed she was going into shed. This is the first time any of my females have had an intermediate shed while (hopefully) gravid. Today puts her at around 60 days POS. I was just curious about everybodies experience with intermediate sheds and if their boas that had them were more likely to have slugs or healthy babies. Thanks, Nick

IMO they are no big deal, just can make it hard to pinpoint the POS. My girl Candy, bred by Reeses delivered a nice litter of 19 babies after having not just one but two interim sheds.

The intermediate shed means nothing. You can have a great litter or a total slug fest with or without the intermediate shed. I had a number of intermediate sheds from females this year. Some with tons of babies and others without. No statistical correlation that I have seen either way.
