Shedding question

Buffysmom Jun 24, 2008 03:30 PM

These are my first beardies & they are both shedding this week. I was told that Jarvis, with his disability, will need help shedding the lower 1/2 of his body. Both beardies have shed some skin a few days ago, but there are clearly areas that still look blue & haven't been shed. Will these areas get loose & flaky? How long does shedding normally take w/ beardies? With all my other lizards it's done in a day, that's why I ask.

Beardies shed in patches rather than all at once. It often takes a week or 2 from when you notice he is going to shed until it is loose. It's not a good idea to pull it off until it is loose as the skin underneath may be damaged if pulled off too soon.

Thank you. I should have made it clear I'm not going to pull anything off that's not already falling off on its own. I just didn't know how long to expect the process to take as it's so different from my previous experiences. They both shed their heads & necks, but Jarvis' front legs are pale white & Missy only shed 1/2 her tail, etc... but there is no more loose skin yet, like when their faces shed.
I appreciate the help. Always fretting as a new mom, you know.
