I have a female 2006 squaretail boa from Pete Kahl who seems more high strung and nervous than my other Colombian morphs. Is your male the same?

I also have an 05 or 06 female squaretail and she is the same way,I thought something was wrong with her at first but she has gotten better since then.

Yours look better than mine as far as the Squaretail pattern and features, but my guy is absolutely flaming with that Euro Pastel thing. He is bright bright when you first open his tub.

Same as mine is. He was a little shy to begin with, but now he's just like my others. He'll take your hand off for a rat.

May need to maintain at a cooler temp.
A little damper, a little cooler, a little darker...should help.
I'm pretty much convinced that some of these captive bred creations are jumpy and irritable because their vision is somehow defective. They may be seeing us as larger, or closer than we really are due to inbred genetic defects from morph breeding. I see siblings all the time where one is calm as can be and another has a hair trigger, all things being equal.

John,

I thought the same thing about the vision and I have actually seen my girls pupils dialating and expanding while I hold her, but her aim is dead on when food is offered. I have some super nice pastels lined up for my squaretails and with people starting to put them into other morphs, the gene pool will get stronger.

On the other hand my male has never had this problem.
