A great way to start the day....

is to find new born babies in the snake room.

There are 2 more not pictured. They still had a little bit of yolk and are in the "special care unit". LOL They are doing very well and I expect will be moved in with their brothers and sisters in a day or so. We have found that the babies do best if left in a group, at least until the first shed.

Something you wrote sparked a question in me...

"We have found that the babies do best if left in a group, at least until the first shed."

What do you mean, "do best". What effects have you seen on the babies that are left in a group vs housed individually?

Thanks!

I have found that a pile of baby boas thermoregulates better than a lone individual in a shoe box. They seem to absorb any yolk they may have faster and seem less defensive and less stressed.

A bunch of babies in a tub will form a pile, constantly moving and changing shape but still in a single mass.
