strange okeetee

colubridman Jun 24, 2008 10:23 PM

I held this guy back along with another male from the same clutch last year because I thought they would have nice wide borders. As this one grows it appears the blotches on the lower half of his body will stay black. I've never had one to do this before but he is turning out to be really interesting looking.

Thanks Doug. The bigger it gets the more I like it. When it was young it looked like most do that would have wide borders as an adult. The lower part of the body will have some almost solid black blotches but as this male grew the black didn't start receding from the center of the blotches and the red didn't start coming in as it grew as most do.

Exactly!,.....that's what I would have thought when choosing it too,.....as you said, usually, the more solid dark the blotched are, the wider the black borders will be when it gets older as the red in the center slowly appears.

As luck would have it, I think you did MUCH better with this one's look. The other colors are really exceptional as well!

I can picture what it would look like if ALL the blotches were solid dark!...WOW!......I'm sure you're going to see if you can produce more like that..huh?......can you say...."new morph"?..

good luck with that cool future project!

Isn't that a 'jungle corn'?

I don't see any evidence of Cal King in it.

Uhhhh.....NO!!!

It reminded me of the odd color/pattern some jungle corns have...made me think it was one, maybe not first generation but perhaps subsequent generations with more corn than cal king?

But, I don't consider myself an expert on corn morphs...it is really nice looking, especially if its a pure corn

Most jungle corns have very visible Cal King influence in the head - that's one of the things I look for.
