Need recomendation for good heat lamp

Miller_Time Jun 25, 2008 01:21 PM

I have a terrarium that I set up recently to house a BD in, and to get the heat proper I used two bulbs in metal hoods. One of them was a Zoo Med "Repti Halogen" 150 watt basking lamp. I liked the color and heat, but unfortunately it went out in less than three days of use. Looking at some reviews online I see a lot of complaints about them lasting 2-3 months, even though they are guaranteed to last 12 months.

The warranty does me no good since it would mean I have to pack it up and pay to ship it to Zoo Med, and that's more hassle than I want to deal with. What I'm looking for is a good, durable heat lamp of similar wattage/heat generation. I have a 48" ReptiSun 10.0 bulb across the top so I only need heat and light.

Any suggestions?

You can buy halogen spot and flood bulbs at home improvement stores that are just as good but way less expensive.
