carpet python

ryantholen Jun 25, 2008 06:03 PM

I just got a coastal carpet python from a reptile show about two weeks ago. He is about 2 foot long and I don't know how old he is. He is a big biter. Everytime I get him from his cage he nails me a few times. At first he was fine after I got him out of his cage but now every move I make he gets me. Any suggestion on how to get him to stop biting me?

A lot of carpets are nippy as neos and yearlings. Some grow out of it, some do not. I would hook the little one out of its cage, and go ahead and accept the fact that you will more than likely get tagged until your carpet gets a little larger (hopefully). With the carpets I used to have before I sold them all to get into Green Tree Pythons, it seemed that they all grew out of the biting phase with time. Buy yourself some gloves if the biting starts to bug you.
