N. Pine lays eggs, yet never mated

jimburke27 Jun 25, 2008 09:29 PM

Hello. Today when I went to feed my 2 year old Albino Northern Pine Female, I found 6 eggs in her cage. The strangest thing is that she never mated in her life! She never even brumated this past winter either. Two of the eggs are obviously bad. What is the chance that any of the other 4 eggs could be fertile?

I don't think the odds are high but I'd still incubate them. If any are fertile then they are eggs where the mothers dna replicated itself for the other half so they will be albino's as well.

Sean.

I've never heard of pines laying fertile eggs as a virgin. I'd really like to see these hatch, please post progress with this clutch, an interesting one if you have fertile eggs!
