Mold keeps coming!!

dacherrypicker Jun 26, 2008 10:41 AM

I cannot keep eggs of my leopard eggs! Three days and it has started to attack. The ambient humidity is high the substrate is barely wet. It just keeps coming. Any ideas? I have them in a mixture of half perlite half vermiculite. Barely moist. Any suggestions? Temp is about 83!

Perlite doesnt mold and neither do fertile eggs unless there is a spot on the egg where it is damaged or leaking. In the past i had an egg that was growing mold because it tore on the spot i pulled it off of the lay box. I used a q tip with peroxide and wiped it clean gently every day and it hatched and was healthy. Maybe someone will post another idea though as peroxide was just a one time experiment that worked for me.

Yea I moved them into perlite only. I took them out of the inqubator and just leave them in the reptile room. It stays about 83 some times drops to 79 at night. Never lower though! Ill let you know how I do.
