Nile Feeding Question

Herpitologer Jun 26, 2008 11:39 PM

I just got him like 2 days ago.
He wont eat mealworms or waxworms..and i havent tried crickets yet because my petstore was all out.

But...I gave him to pinkies everyday since tues.
My question...

is it okay if i feed him pinks until he starts eating bugs as long as i dust them with the calcium supplement.

Or should i try diffrent foods like goldfish and roaches.?

rodents = good. feeder insects = good. goldfish = very bad.

give your monitor time. if the conditions are proper, he'll stop being picky and start eating anything that it can over power.

why are goldfish bad?

Goldfish are kept in filthy, parasitic conditions that makes them a poor food source. If your Nile's food source has diseases and parasites, then your Nile is soon to follow suit.

oh gotcha. i tried feeding goldfish to my nile once but he never ate any. i feed him only fuzzies

not only that, but gold fish are also very oily and high in fat. they don't offer much nutrition wise. so dirty, parasite ridden, oily, fatty, low nutritional value...not good monitor food.
