AshLopez Jun 27, 2008 12:14 AM

My 9 footer may be Gravid.I Just don't know.

I started breeding her October 07.

She has only eaten 4 jumbo rats sice October.

She only shed once since thenalso.

She has had two different males with her the whole time.

She was not responding and wouldn't give it up.

I housed her in a smaller snug container and it worked.

I witnessed copulation.

She has since been acting gravid.

I have been waiting for her to Ovulate and shed.

I have pics that are in cronological order.

I was wondering if I missed ovulation or if you see something I don't.

Please Oppinions would be helpfull.

1-13-07 with Miller male.

Fresh shed 4-8-08

Introduced a new male 05 Damico 5-17-08

Witnessed COPULATION 6-3-08

Considerable SWELLING throughout that week 6-5-08

6-8-08

Moved her in to her normal enclosure and witnessed this. 6-14-08

She sure looks gravid.........don`t understand why you keep male in with her.....I thought females don`t give off fertility pheromones when they are pregnant.

"don`t understand why you keep male in with her.....I thought females don`t give off fertility pheromones when they are pregnant."

Thanks for the reply.

That's the point of this post.

I'm NOT SURE she is GRAVID.

I'm keeping the male in there till I'm absolutely SURE she is GRAVID.

Sometimes if you pull him out too early it can result in low numbers of babies or even Unfertilized ova, witch happened to me earlier this season with another female.

I think you're doing the right thing Ash. Keep the males in there until you're sure!
On a separate note, she's giving GREAT signs that things are progressing as you'd like!

You can see the swelling and mass between the 10th and 13 saddle. She is gravid and these B.C.C. definately do not read the book. It is not uncommon to have females not have a P.O.S. Once the male goes 7 to 10 days without courting " especially if he has been aggressive throughout, he is pretty much done. Looks like a typical and gravid Suriname to me. Kick back and relax and wait for the fun. B.C.C. will usually not carry the sloppy and spread out look of B.C.I. " of course some exceptions, " they usually carry a little higher and look more tall.......JJ

impossible to say for certain whether she is or is not gravid. All of the signs are looking very positive. I would leave the male or males in with her until you have at least 2-3 weeks of zero courting. As long as you see any courting/copulating, leave the males in.
