The most effective method I've used for mite prevention/removal is Black Knight. Provent A Mite works well also.

I use Nix lice shampoo. A 2 oz bottle diluted into 1 gallon of water. you can spray this right on the snake (I do not spray it on the head though). also when I clean out my cages and put in the new paper i spray the paper with it not alot, just enough to get it wet, no puddles. I have been using this for a bout 5 years and have not had mites in that time. And there are no fumes. As soon as i spray the cages I put the snakes back in.

All good suggestions here but but IMO black knight is hands down the best. I once got in an 8' suri that was LOADED ... and I mean just teaming with mites inside of a week (she looked good upon arrival). They were crawling all over the outside of the cage, on the floor, just reall bad.

A black knight took care of it with two applications. Not a single one got to the rest of my collection.
