Hey Chris,
When Doug first posted I was hoping you would post up your very impressive group.. Great stuff bud!
I have not owned a scarlet since i was a kid.. Back then i used to buy them for $15, but I never once got them to feed.. Mostly due to lack of experience.
Happy 4th to all!

Amazing group of animals Chris!
Especially like the one with the completely red head and high-yellow banding. Very, very cool.
Trevor
I like her alot as well!
Appreciate it.
Chris
WoW! I like the broad, clean, white bands on the third
one. Really nice!!!!

Work is the curse
of the drinking class!
Thanks Phil... the clean lil' male is sweet actually. He's alo one of the easiest I've ever had the pleasure of working with. Someday with any luck he'll pair up with the high-yellow female and produce some stellar locale babies. As for the darker one... lol... first time I saw it all that was running through my head was annulata!
Thanks again...
Chris
Really impressive collection there Chris.
Irony being that those were just the photos I have uploaded on k.s. -- anyhow I appreciate the kind words!
Chris
I have to get down to florida next spring

Kiiick ass, post.
Really like the middle one on the deli cup lid. Very nice collection, Chris.
-Dell

Thanks alot Dell... the one you referenced is really a just alot of fun too. He requires little prompting to eat like a pig and has taken f/t fuzzies from day one. I really couldn't ask for much more with him...
Besides I'm sure you have a solid kick ass post or four waiting in the wings that'd drive me crazy. Hope your great year field-wise comes through in the time to come. By the way the 'kids' are doing great and I simply couldn't be happier w/ them!
Chris
the vent pic is great, love that mixed red.Do these all eat mice or are they lizard eaters ?

Hey Chris,
I really like the "tangerine" SK in the second
pic! It has that tangerine Annulata look to it,
especially with the darker red. Nice SK
collection you have there!

Politics' is made up of two words, 'poli,' which is Greek for 'many,' and 'tics,' which are blood-sucking insects.- Gore Vidal
Awww c'mon man... lol. Not even, just a bit obsessed perhaps. Besides that's not even the half of it...
I'm actually going to be wrenching away some odds and ends. Trying to downsize/refine. Though since I managed to pair up Tony's animal w/ a 'relative' locale mate... I've also expanded and picked up a few males to eventually outcross. I just need some time... lol. Though the female locale match takes f/t pinks like a champ and is gaining momentum. Next year could be a possibility, maybe. So it's qualified downsizing it seems.
Anyhow I'm glad you like the group... Have a good one man!
Chris
The 'orange and reds' are all scattered examples mostly from west central coast up through the north and into the panhandle... mine anyhow. I've seen examples ranging the state... though one area in particular does have me interested. I like them alot as well, but I'm a bit biased anyhow.
That last one is a juvie male from Lake County. He matches up a locale pairing with the light 'yellow' female. If I'm ever lucky enough to get them paired up that'll be an insane line. He is striking but young, I'm curious to see him develop. He is WC and took f/t very small pinks from day one, literally. Most everything I have actually takes f/t unscented meals of appropriate size. Out of the group pictured only two require scenting. A select couple are stern, wanting scented pinks. Though they'll massacre multiple small pinks per meal. Yes, I have a few (mostly very small) that I feed f/t hatchling anoles. Though I scent them with mice and it does ease the transition a bit.
Thanks again... appreciate it.
Chris

Fantastic series, Chris! Scarlet King King, Indeed!

Those are nice ones. Love the yellow in that one.
The cool thing about scarlets is that they dont newsprint.
The uncool thing is feeding the babys

>>The uncool thing is feeding the babys
I think baby scarlet kings get a bad rap. I've never had a problem getting babies started personally but I only have experience with CB babies I've hatched here.

On with the wild pics....
Here is an animal found behind a Dollar General store along Hwy 98 in North Florida:

Another small one found under bark in the ANF:

Lastly two shots of a large male found under some cover behind a convenience store:

Sorry for the bad quality, these all were taken with my antique Sony Mavica FD92... 1.6 MP. LOL.
I have quite a few other scarlet king pics that I've accumulated over the years but the ones I posted here and above/below were the only ones uploaded right now.
dg
I have to start looking for baegains behind the stores instead of in them. Nice snakes and good storys

Surrender Dorothy!
...from Jefferson county

and this one was found as a hatchling in Hernando a few years ago and was rescued from the shovel...
The rescuer contacted me and I helped him get it feeding on pinks. When he had to move earlier this year, he gave it to me.

Surrender Dorothy!
Sure Mark throw that pic @ me again! Really though that female monster is/was truly impressive. I'd sure like to have a rat pup eating female 'giant' right about now!
Talk to you soon,
Chris
Lindsay I'll look through again and check on some of my lower band count animals but I can tell you that the female you posted from down south caught my eye immediately!
Chris
