Very sad day...

Well I had my first Tang. Albino hatch out last night but look what I found. It has an umbilical (something) It appears that the remaining yolk got caught on something and pulled out it's insides as it hatched. There is a lot of "stuff" in the egg. I believe there was another snake inside that didn't develop and it was connected some how and when the good snake tried to come out of the egg the stuff was pulled out of it.

I have an appointment with a great Vet this afternoon so we'll see if it can be put back in and save the snake.

Anyone have any positive out comes with such a case?

Thanks.

I had a clutch of 4 hypos that hatched out last week. One of the eggs had a problem with mold that created a black patch about the size of a penny on the eggs. Anyhow, when they all hatched, one of the hypos had some "guts" hanging out just like yours, but only about half as much material though. Mine ended up dying after about 2-3 days. I also noticed that the bands from each side of the animal didn't line up on the belly of the snake. Back to the egg, I think this was the animal that hatched out from the molded egg.
I hope you have better results with your albino. It sure is nice.

This clutch too had fungus. This egg did not however but the remaining egg has a small spot. There were 4 to start, two went bad.

My Vet said that he has seen this in Pine snake eggs. The fungus seems to make some of the yolk unusable somehow and this is the result.

My snake is in surgery now. I'll keep you updated on it's outcome. I'm not getting my hopes up, that's for sure.
