Sunglow?????

BrownsBoas Jun 29, 2008 11:13 AM

I got up and cleaned all my new babies! I was astonished to see what looked like a Sunglow in the pile of babies from my Ronne Pastel Het. Albino litter! I figured I would post a pic and see what the rest of you think. All the other albinos have nice bold pattern to them this one stuck out like a sore thumb! There is a possiblity of two fathers as the female was bred by my Coral Albino male and my Male Sunglow Poss Het Anery! There were no hypos in the litter, but I'm thinking my sunglow slipped one by!

Let me know what you think!!!!

Thanks Steve, I have produced a few sunglows in my day, but the albinos from this litter a very high colored so I thought maybe my eyes were playing tricks one me! Pretty cool stuff!

Looks like it Al but that's one I don't think you will be able to say for sure without proving it really. That's why I most often stubbornly only use one male on a female unless the other male is genetically identical or genetically the opposite like a Jungle and a Motley male combo. It's just a whole lot nicer to know for sure who fathered who. The other problem is it makes it impossible to know which of the straight up Albinos were fathered by the Coral, though I suspect most of the color on those puppies came from Mommy. She was a really red baby! I think the reddest one I sold that year. 2003 if my aging memory serves me correctly...

Then again, a female can retain sperm from the previous year and produce babies from a male that bred her 16 months before that birth. So you just can't know. I'd bet it IS a Sunglow though.

The female has never been with another hypo besides my sunglow. The two males that I had with her would only breed when I had them in the cage together. When I would pull one male the other would stop breeding, within 10 minutes of placing the other male back in the cage the marathon would start again! I tried shed skins and all the other tricks to get one of the males to breed without the other, but it just wasn't happening! It all worked out! The babies are fabulous and I really can't wait to see them after they shed out! I do agree a-lot of the color came from mom! I'm thrilled to have this litter! The Hets are going to be killer as well!

The Coral male was without a doubt the most active breeder between the two. I saw him copulate at least a dozen times or more and only saw the Sunglow twice! The baby is a female and will probably stay with me anyways!
