Female due in 7 days! Q's?

jbn9960 Jun 29, 2008 12:15 PM

My female het albino that i bred to my anery het snow is due in 8 days. Last night she produced a very small "waxy stool." Formed but moist, and the urates are creamy. This is my first gravid boa. I thought someone told me they shed before they give birth? She is huge in the back end and began looking thinner in the fron the last week or two. Should I be getting ready?? Thanks for helping a beginner out.

Jack

Colubrids shed before they lay eggs. Boas don't typically shed right before birth. That's very rare. The next event you are hopefully going to see is birth.

Hi Jeff,
Every time I have bred sonoran boas the female has sloughed around 10 days before parturition. I've never seen it with a colombian, however my El Salvador/Colombian poss het blood female sloughed 10 days before parturition last year also.
