chiplatham Jun 29, 2008 03:30 PM

i have a baby (2 months old) BD and i am going out of town this week...leaving wed afternoon and returning sat afternoon. so nobody will be here for 2 FULL days.

1) my bd will not have uvb rays for 2 days.

2) my bd will not have live food for 2 days.

will this be a problem? any suggestions?

I use Helix Thermostats. Everything is on timers. My neighbors feed my animals if absolutely necessary. I have 19 dragons plus other species, most are rescues. Many have very special needs so my days of vacations and going out of town are behind me.

You need to find someone to take care of them while you're gone until they're adults.

Why won't it have UVB? A uvb bulb set on a timer along with the heat/basking bulb will ensure light and heat is one 12-14 hours a day and off the rest of the day.

Baby bearded dragons require regular daily feeding..and yours is 2 months old..it should be fed 2-3 times a day with insects and provided a salad daily.

Best thing to do is have a friend or neighbor come in at least once a day to feed insects and a salad. You can help out by preparing finely chopped salad in small containers...you can buy these for about a dollar at any Dollar store (Dollarama, Buck or Two, etc) and even do the same with crickets.

Once your dragon is at least 8 months old, they can survive fine without food for a day or two...though only adults should be let alone for two or three full days. Any more than that you need somebody to come in and feed them.

Just like leaving a puppy alone for two full days...not something you can do without having somebody come in and take care of it every day.

Use a timer but you will need someone to feed him definately at that young age...
