can i feed edamame (soy beans)?

the name edamame is new to me...
as far as soy beans go...i have read that it can be fed as part of the bean mix(dry),i have read to feed sparingly, and have read to stay away from it. ( ??????????????????????? )

Edamame is just the Japanese name for soybeans.
