Scarlet and Terry's Megas...

RG Jun 30, 2008 08:08 PM

I took a few more pics of the SK this evening before releasing it...these were much crisper pics than the previous post:

No flash:

Flash:

and here's something for size reference:

I put it right back where I found the little bugger...at the same time of day.

Part 2

I took out my favorite pair (Terry's Mega Line) for a couple updated photos...

The male has gotten a little darker since the last photo shoot:

The flash makes him appear a few shades darker than in person...I should have taken a pic next to a "normal hypo"...he's still much lighter than a standard hypo...but no where near his father. Also the Mega stands for Mega Growth...I was very shocked to find that he's 33 inches long at less than a year old.

Here's the Snow het Mega (Poss Mega Pearl)...she's a tangerine by the way:

She's even larger than the male at 37 inches and also not a year old....MEGA HUGE!

Rusty,
Great looking Scarlet, and good story to go along w/ it. I bet it felt good to let it go. Not sure I could have done that, but I have let many milks go that I wanted to keep, and it felt good to put them back under their rock after taking their photos.

Yeah, it actually felt really good to let him go...he just crawled up into the dead part of the tree...and poked his little head out...you could barely seen him. It just underscored to me how very hard it would be to find one of these jewels without getting extremely lucky.

Also, I've gone through scenting and lizard feeding snakes in the past (with Mt. Kings)...and with my busy schedule there is no way I have time for that kind of effort.

Thanks,
Rusty

Rusty,

Well I'm glad you did release it! I feel pretty good as well when I re-release them. Very limited experiences those have been -- lol! Just the same I'm glad you did manage some great shots!
As for the hondos -- those guys are monsters! Very impressive growth... on some rather impressive snakes!

Have a good one,
Chris
