Hi.
I have just completed a tour overseas and returned home last week. I noticed that my 03' 7' male has numerous small, low lying blisters on the sides of his body (none on his belly or back). My son took care of my animals while I was gone and I noticed that he put pine shavings in the cage and has kept them in there for several months. (I removed them all as soon as I got back).
I also have a 05' 5' female that is kept in a cage next to his who is doing really great and has no blisters at all. She had been kept on a much softer substrate & newspapers (no pine shavings were in her cage - ever).
None of my animals have mites and are really clean and healthy and eat like pigs... I was just wondering... Could the male's blister's be caused by the pine shavings in his cage? Or could it be something else? Humdity and temps have always been perfect. I have had the male since he was a hatchling rasied under the same conditions for almost five years now... (I will more-than-likely be taking him to the vet real soon anyway)
(I personally think it was the pine shavings...)
Thank you for any information you can provide.
