"Snakes...Why did it have to be snakes?"
Indiana Jones is not alone when it comes to these wriggly reptiles.
"And when we came out, it sort of wobbled over here and then it arched up like this."
So far this year, Sandra Carlisle has had at least three creepy confrontations with a snakes in her yard.
"One night we came out here and there was one right by this garage door," she said.
She says they're coming from an overgrown lot next door. She says last year, someone cut it down but this year nobody has touched it.
"If they would just send somebody out here just to cut it down. It's not really fair to the people in the area," said Carlisle.
Across the street, a more terrified Bessie Miller has had her own encounters of the slithering kind. She also wants the owner to cut down the high weeds.
Miller pleads, "He needs to help me. He needs to help me because he will have me putting a For Sale sign in my yard."
She bought this house four years ago to live out her golden years and work in her garden. Now she's a prisoner in her own home and won't leave her deck.
The only time that Bessie's ventured out into her yard was to put down some of this snake stopper, which can be seen by the white patches along the fence. But she's afraid it's no match for the weeds, some of which are taller than 5 feet.
She would not be coaxed out into her yard for this report.
"Do I have to?" she asked.
She tries, but can't make it past the steps.
"I would love to. I can't. I can't. This is as far as I go," she said.
The property has been written up for code violations. Because of budget issues, the City is not allowed to mow it, only fine the owner.
If you have an issue, don't call animal control. They only deal with stray dogs and cats.
