impact of relocation on breeding results

nuthnbutbalz Jul 01, 2008 07:02 PM

a former friend had a terrible breeding season in 06'-07' and claims it was the result of having moved at the beginning of breeding season. he only moved a half hours drive from his previous residence so climate is not an issue. my former friend got only 3 or 4 clutches out of 14 i think.
this past season i also moved, the last weekend of september to be specific. however my results were different. so far,of the 9 females that i confirmed hookups, 6 have laid and i'm still expecting 1 more to lay.
also if you're reading this,D.L., the 06'spider female i purchased from you gave me 5 perfect eggs which just hatched. 3 normals and 2 spiders both of which are girls.

The year I moved it was in the summer of 06 after everything had laid. That following year I had zero clutches, I was left scratching my head. This year everything is back on track. So yeah, moving can definitely have an effect, especially if the room you are keeping them in is significantly different in terms of light/dark and temp/humidity.
