Rat Racks

Airborne Jul 01, 2008 08:07 PM

I have been looking at some of the racks people have on there websites and I understand the concept. My question is, with the 3 way watering plastics, I do not see a little ball that dispenses the water, where do I get the ones that have the little balls in them like a regular glass or plastic watering jar?

I'm confused....

First off noone uses plastic with rats as they eat them. Second the type of valve in the water bottle is a two ball bypass valve. The water running out begins to create a vacuum in the bottle which holds the water from seaping out. When the valve is licked pressure increases breaking the vacuum and syphoning out the water, until the balls rest at the end of the nozzle. This system only works as a closed loop system.

The type system used in Rodent and Rabbit husbandry is a needle valve this valve has a pin or needle that protrudes from the tip when this needle is pushed anywhere but dead center the bond is brke and water will begin to flow. These vlves are very precise so they can work in a pressure or gravity system. Most often these valves are made of Brass or other quality metal, the inards may still be urathane based.

I don't think you can get ball valves anywhere as they aren't usefull for anything but the bottle type waterers.

I myself get my valves from Bass Equipment, they have all sorts of watering equipment for Rabbits but the concept works both ways.

Ok, thanks, I was confused as well, and maybe I didn't explain it right, but now I know what I need to buy and how I am going to hook up my ever growing rat population for my snakes.

Agselect.com has everything you could need for automatic watering systems.
