BGF,

Congrats on the paper -- I can appreciate (in theory, if not in practice) the amount of work that went into it.

With all the flak you seem to be getting from some people on this board, just thought I'd share two thoughts with you.

"An empty head is not really empty; it is stuffed with rubbish. Hence the difficulty of forcing anything in to an empty head."
- Eric Hoffer

Nothing in the world is more dangerous than a sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity
- Martin Luther King

Keep up the work! Cheers!

I would share one with you. "Knowledge that cannot stand up to the test...of critisism is within it's own nature flawed". It keeps it honest. The "airheads" have brought up some valid arguements. They are equaly worthy of respect....Frank

I think he was more referring to emotive criticism rather than logical, evidence based criticism.

It was precisely "emotive criticism" that I was referring to in this case.

I love logical, facts-based (or at least facts-inspired) debates. Sometimes, though, things get to more of the "nyah, nyah, nyah naa naa" level of discourse.

Besides, the only people who should get offended about quotes relating to ignornace are those who fear they might be ignorant! lol

Cheers!

Ah, for the clarity of the English tongue (or should I say clarification?). My friend...Buckshot tends to hit innocent bystanders as well as the target. We appreciate the more "accurate" weapon! I also appreciate the work and info in the paper and feel it should be tested, debated and the concepts put into perspective....and you can see by my other posts-It should be done bereft of ego bashing. Just doing my bit to envenomate the discussion with reason! By the way, Have you any familiarity with Axanthism in Waglers? Had to babies brought to me that are from a normal Sumatran that certainly look the part. She was w/c gravid. Babies are greenish blue with blue white where they should be yellow. Never seen that before. ...Frank

Had to babies brought to me that are from a normal Sumatran that certainly look the part. She was w/c gravid. Babies are
greenish blue with blue white where they should be yellow. Never seen that before.

Wagler's babies look radically different than the adults in colour and pattern. However this of course doesn't rule out you having a neat morph. Got any photos you can put online?

Will try to get some on. We are new at the computer photography end of this, so will try to get the best shot we can to you. Do you have a email address I can send direct too (if ok)?. As for the Wags...They are very small and I've seen a lot of Sumatran, but these are unique. The only green is dorsally and that shades to a dull bluish. About three scales down the flanks change to pale powder blue. The veneer is blue white. the effect is like they are in shed except they are not and as they've grown the colors have been fading. Till we saw the mother everyone thought they were Kalimatan. Dick Bartlett just photographed one of them so if we can't send a good photo by email I will snail mail one to you...Life occasionally drops these little curiousities....Frank
