This is the best knoblocki I have ever produced.I think there is one more in the clutch of seven just like it or very close to it.Reminds me of Applegates candycane pyros.
The parents are siblings and are f1s from the Philly zoo and are unrelated to all the other knobs in the country.Since I may have 2 out of 7 like this from siblings maybe its a simple recessive.Time will tell.

OUTSTANDING beast Shannon!!!!

Were you working on that or did it just happen by chance?

Thanks Mike, I had no idea.I was working on producing some new blood for the knobs. My adults are f1s from some animals collected in San Juanito by the philly zoo several years back.So I raised them up and was just planning on producing f2 animals that didn't have any ties to the grumbeck, ross or osborne lines.
I am as surprised as anybody.

Very nice Shannon. That looks very similar to a "hypo" knob that Wayne Sanders produced last year.

I don't think I have seen this "hypo" that wayne produced.Do you have a pic?
Shannon

Dniles Jul 02, 2008 03:32 PM

Wayne Sanders produced this animal in 2007, I believe. This is the pic he posted in the mtn kingsnake forum sometime back in 2007. Looks pretty similar to what you produced. They are all very nice animals.

yep, pretty close to mine.Very cool.I wonder if he produced anymore this year. One thing for sure is mine are way higher band count. Not knocking his because I like and have both looks but I have always liked the high band count and high side's.

Shannon, great looking snake congrats. I was a bit dissapointed that the one I produced did'nt have high latteral speckling and high band count as well. The parents have all of those great attributes. I am very excited to see what hatches out of this years clutch. Last year only one out of five were
"hypo" the clutchmates are very normal looking. The "hypo" should be able to breed next year so maybe i'll be able to prove him out. The black in mine is very faded, reduced looking and that is why i'm calling it for now a hypo.

Wayne Sanders

shannon brown Jul 03, 2008 09:45 PM

Yeah Wayne I really like yours too.I am glad mine has the more classic knob look though.I love the high band count and high side's.
There was one more in the clutch of seven but it was deformed and dead in the egg.

I will have to wait and see what mine looks like after a shed or two but I don't think mine is hypo as far as the hobby term hypo goes.By defenition yes, Mine is hypo because it is very reduced black but I probably won't call mine hypos.

Unreal, Shannon! That thing is awesome - I'd keep the whole clutch until you know how the mutation works (not like you didn't know that...)!

Hey, how did you get animals from Zoo stock anyway...do you have to have a connection?

Very nice snake...I miss my Mt. Kings!

shannon brown Jul 02, 2008 08:56 PM

I really don't know anybody at the Zoo per-say.I bought a guys coolection two years ago and they were in the collection. He was buddies with the snake keeper at the zoo and he had this pair that was produced at the Zoo and a single female Greeri that was w/c and they could never pair it up.
I still have her but have got bad eggs 2 years now out of her.I got bad eggs last year from this pair of knobs but everything I got from him was on the thin side.
Anyway, I really have no other info than that.
I don't even know for sure how old this adult pair is other than I know that had never been bred when I got them cause they were border line size breeding but underweight.

At Busch Gardens in Tampa,FL, I saw my first Honduran Milksnake...actually it was about 3-4 of them in one large enclosure...I remember telling myself that one day I would have that kind of snake....I had no idea how far I would go!!!! HA!

A few years later at B.G. I witnessed a yellow rat and corn snake mating... I asked a keeper what they do with the eggs; he told me that they just destroy them. Kinda harsh, for me to hear as a kid...but I guess I can now understand the reasons why.

I need to go back and ask about the Hondurans...I'd love to get a wild caught pair at some point. It would be nice to breed back to a Pearl!
