North Carolina herping

AnthonyEdge Jul 02, 2008 02:48 AM

I am going on vacation next week with the family to Holden Beach in Brunswick Co. southeastern NC. I hope to get away for a day and do some herping. Does anyone know of any good spots within a reasonable driving distance or how I could find out about such spots?

Thanks,
Anthony

Lots of good herping in the area. I sent you a pm.

Here is a L. getula from New Hanover Co. (just across the river) last March.

Good luck. Please post whatever you find.

Michael

Awesome! Thanks a lot! Read the PM and I'm very excited, I just hope I get the time to head over there. In Ohio we have only 5 lizards species and I know there are more down there. I'm sure it won't get used but I've just made myself a lizard noose so let's hope I get to use it!

I'm also very interested in salamders are there decent spots for them that close to the coast?

I don't go salamandering much in the east. If you are looking for unique stuff, you may have a better time in the NC or VA mountains. I'm not much of a resource on salamanders though...

Thanks,
Michael
