My gecko is acting strange

webster Sep 02, 2003 02:47 PM

Hi
My gecko is approx 1 1/2 -2 years old. He has had no health problems except his previous owner didnt allow him to shed properly and he lost the toes on his front right foot. He is active, eats mostly canned crickets and seems to enjoy being talked to and getting out of his cage a couple times a week for a run around. The other day be started digging in his 'lizard litter' and pulsing on the floor of his cage. I freaked out and couldnt find anything that matched his symptoms on the interent so I rushed to the local reptile store and the man there said that my gecko most likely wants a mate and is getting out his 'sexual fustration'. He came to this conclusion because my gecko is healthy. He was no constapated nor exsibiting any other syptoms that would make him think that my geck was sick. Does anyone ou there have any other ideas what might be wrong??? My gecko has since stopped and seems to be more alert and active then usual.

Do you have a female leo? What is he doing to the ground again lol. My male did that once when he tried to get with my female but she wasnt having it. After words when I put him back in his tank he walked around rubbing his "Manhood" on everything. I figured just marking his spot like dogs lol. After that he was real active kinda hyper like and actually stopped eating for like a week or so. Then about 2 weeks later we had a little accident with my female we had him and her both out not thinking about it and he got ahold of her and this time she didnt resist. Now we are wating for eggs.
It might be due to mating, if u do have female he may have smelled her or seen her. It is at the end of mating season though. Just make sre he is eating ok.
