Contractions??

dacherrypicker Jul 02, 2008 11:30 PM

Can you notice any kind of contractions in females that are about to lay? My female is at day 31 after pre shed and tonight I was watching her with my flashlight and I noticed her what would look like breathing but I have never noticed such a strong breath. Is this some sort of contraction or just coincidence? None of my other females were making the breathing type of movement she was. Just wondering!

I have never seen a BP lay but I just recently watched my Honduran Milk Snake lay 8 eggs so I assume it’s the same. I got it all on camera and I’m still in the process of condensing the footage. When she is about to lay her body will be VERY swollen near her vent and the lower half of her body. The contractions will only be in the lower part of the body where the eggs are located and shouldn’t be making her whole body move. Hope this helps and good luck.

My girls will usually lay in a perfect coil with the tail in the center and the body coiling out from there.I usually notice this right before they are gonna go. They will move their heads back and look into the center when they are laying.

When they do this, it cant be long.

Yea she has been like that for about 3 days now. Pefectly coiled just sitting. I can see the lower third of her body pulsing like taking deep breaths. Its been 33 days I think. So hopefully I'll get a couple presents here in the next few days!

Shes gonna go soon I would guess. I have very rarely (almost never) have heard of Ball Pythons having trouble passing eggs, so at least thats one less thing you should worry about. I would leave her alone, keep the room quite and she should go anythime by the sounds of things.

Best of luck, keep us posted.
