Huron: Cops often find themselves having to deal with the snakes of society -- you know, the thieves, robbers, rapists and other nasty types.
On June 25 Huron police dealt with a real snake -- a four-foot python.
Sgt. Greg Bodkin responded to a call at a Cleveland Road West apartment for a snake trapped in the wall. Lindsey Efaw called police after the snake escaped from its cage and then slithered into a hole in the wall. When Bodkin arrived he found Efaw's husband, Anthony, holding onto the last 8-10 inches of the snake -- the rest of the creature's body was inside the wall and apparently wrapped around a copper pipe.
Lindsey Efaw tried to call a veterinarian for help, but none responded. Bodkin agreed to use his stun gun on the snake. According to the report, Bodkin stunned the snake at least five times in three-to-five second bursts, allowing Gary Efaw to pull the snake out of the wall and return it to its cage. The snake did not appear to be injured.
