How to heat Sterilite tubs

pyromaniac Jul 03, 2008 09:35 AM

Right now my snakes are in glass tanks, but I want to enlarge their quarters with Sterilite tubs. What is a good way to heat these plastic tubs?
Methods or product ideas would be most appreciated.

If you are using a rack system - flexwatt heat tape controlled by a Helix or Herpstat works well. Put the thermostat probe on the tape itself. You can also use an incadescent dimmer and closely monitor the temp of the tape.

I use 1 run of 3" tape for 4qt and 12qt tubs, 2 runs of 3" tape (with an inch between them) for 32qt tubs.

You can also use heat pads if you only have one tub - but be sure to use a thermostat or dimmer, as they can get too hot as well.

I decided my old sig was too big.
