I just noticed that male's right hemipene is swollen and when I pressed on it puss came out. I will be taking him to the vet but would like some ideas to share with them. Thanks Mike

P.S He is not prolapsed.

I personally haven't dealt with this but I believe this is the problem Jeremy ran into with my Male '04 Jungle when it was still with him. I'd get in touch with him. I guess The Jungle didn't make it but I'm sure many have .

Has he bred for you and if so what type of bedding was it on? I have some colubrids that have had a piece of wood shavings get retracted with the hemipene.Try giving him a soak in luke warm water. It might help with the puss and it definetly won't hurt anything. You also might be able to gently squeeze out what ever is in there.

Yes he did breed this year and he was on pine shavings. I was thinking he might have something in there but don't know how to get it out. He is VERY PISSED OFF now striking at me and the glass.

Thanks Mike

I thought pine was bad for snakes...I never use pine...just aspen and cypress or reptibark
