Two headed Mojave

SWREPTILE Jul 03, 2008 02:31 PM

Well ,this is my second two headed snake. In twenty years and over 25,000 babies I got a second two header. Couple years back we had a two headed Columbian boa. Now a two headed Mojave ball python. Both were all kinked up. I hope to hatch a living healthy one someday before I die. We do have 500+ ball eggs this year.

Some people just have it like that i guess. If i was you i would play the lotto.

It's a shame that the little one didn't make it.

Do you plan on breeding the pair that made this particular one?

I'm wondering if it's genetic or just a fluke while incubating?

I would say fluke. I will breed the same pair next year though. I had a two headed boa from breeding a het albino to a albino boa. I breed them the last three years to try it again. No luck.

Thats an awesome thing right there. I would have loved to have seen a live 2-headed Ball Python. You should cut it open and see if there are double organs and how the windpipe and throat area is joined. Very cool indeed! I would think that maybe it is a case of conjoined twins that didnt seperate and passed away, but who knows?? I wonder if the pair of Columbian Boas that produced the first two-header and the pair of Ball Pythons that produced this one(two?), that maybe these pairs arent predisposed to laying two-headed babies and maybe they would produce twins at a higher rate than you would normally expect?

Just a thought..
