Show on discovery

tomb4440 Sep 02, 2003 03:29 PM

Did anyone catch the show that discovery had on Sunday called "Gators and Vipers" Those of you who didn't catch the show they were having a sting operation in Arizona to catch animal smugglers and the Warden would wait in total darkness with all of his dash lights covered and all lights off and follow the suspect car along rough, curvy, cliff side roads in total darkness so as not to be detected so he can catch someone picking up an animal. Well he ran off the road and rolled several times and landed upside down into a ditch some 20 feet down and lived to tell about it. I can't believe that the wardens would even think about following someone on those kind of roads on such dangerous terrain with no lights on. He deserved what happened to him. I could not believe what I was watching then I thought he must be able to see better than what the camera was showing but I guess not. The poor guy that was with him will probably never want to accompany any of them ever again for any reason. That's crazy. What are your thoughts on the this no matter if you saw the show or not tell me what you think. Sorry for the long post but It was necessary to give those who did not watch the show an idea of how crazy that was.

If you had posted on the other forum that deals with field herping, laws and law enforcement, you would probably have gotten considerable response.

I did not see the episode on TV. However, if most of what you mention is accurate, it is another example of how wildlife law enforcement dealing with herps has take a questionable route in my estimation.

well since this was a field forum and this type of thing happened in the field I guessed this would be the place for it. I will post it in herp law forum as well and see what happens.

I was not referring to the kingsnake law forum. There is another 'field herping' forum by that name (with no space between the words) which is altogether separate from the kingsnake forums.
