Found him crossing the road where I live, so I thought I wouls snap a couple of pics before letting him go. I think he is a beautiful example of a Pacific Gopher....Thought you guys might like to see the pics...

It sure looks gravid.Maybe you should keep her untill she lais so she doesn't stress trying to find a place to lay in the wild if you let her go in a different spot where she won't get run over.

Here are a couple of more pics I took of it next to a quarter and one with my hand to show size reference....could a Gopher breed and produce eggs at this size? Seems pretty young/small...but like I said...I know next to nothing about Pits...

the first thing I thought was, hey, that's on a paper towel...no way in the world is that snake big enough for eggs! funny how perception can be hard sometimes! Neat snake!

I believe FR has stated from his field research that wild snakes are more likely to breed at unusually small sizes during very dry years, over in the king forum with respect to getula. Hopefully I didn't get that backwards.

I don't know if it is gravid, but it is a very beautiful pac gopher.
