Hets as normals?????

ChadRamsey Jul 04, 2008 11:13 AM

How often do you think people sell possible or even het animals as normals?

Have you ever done it?

I have done this but the terms are different. I offer and stand behind my genetics guarantee. It would not be fair to customers that paid for hets if I sold surplus hets for less with a genetic guarantee. My surplus, usually males, sell for less and do not include genetics paper work or any type of genetics guarantee. In fact, the containers aren't even labeled. It just would not be fair to my other customers.

Every single baby at our store if it is a male is a poss het or het, and the females are all poss hets.

All of my het males and possible het males have gone to my local reptile shop as normals. I've also given them female possible hets as well.

For several years I've sold possible het pied males to pet stores at normal price. However, the ones with good markers even though the price is normal I've printed up paperwork with a ID pictures and explaining the chance they are hets in the hopes that someone might buy them to breed and eventually produce more pieds. At this point with 100% het pied males being so cheap I'm not sure if I'll bother even labeling them this year. Even with my best efforts to explain possible hets I suspect there is potential for confusion and most anyone serious about producing pieds could afford a 100% het male by this time. I’ve been a big believer in the poor man’s rout to morphs through possible het males but with so many 100% het males now under $100 it seems anyone who can afford to feed them should be able to afford to go 100%, at least on the male side.
