I'm sorry guys, I wanna set the record straight...

First of all, I want to go ahead and say that I am not a member of the PETA or any animal rights organization. I am a twenty-three year old college student majoring in television and film studies. I have also done stand up comedy. I came into this room because I was seriously considering purchasing a monitor and I wanted to get as much information as I possibly could. And I did get a lot of helpful information, from various people including I think lucien. However I decided ultimately that I am not going to get a monitor. I don't think I would be capable of handling that kind of responsibility. But besides that, I recognize that I have made some really distasteful and unfair comments especially in that last post. I apologize for that. I also apologize for making a comment directed towards you and your kids. And I especially apologize to Robert, because of anyone in here, he did not deserve that. However I do stand by some of the things I said. I think that sometimes in this forum, people in this tend to ignore the so called "everyday" questions that people have especially newcomers, because you have "heard it a hundred times." Perhaps so, but I don't think that means that person's question should be completely ignored. Like in the case with Katrina, I have no doubt in my mind that her post would have been completely ignored if not for me replying. Even Nicodemus who replied to her said that he asked a similiar question just a few days ago with absolutely no response from anyone. I know a lot of you guys take great pride in this forum and value the information that you exchange from one another. And perhaps have kindled some friendships. But there are other people in here too and I don't believe it is fair to ignore their questions just because they might not be as "experienced" or "knowledgeable" about monitors as ya'll. I'll tell you right now, I don't have any experience with monitors but I know enough to tell her how much work it's going to be to own one. I know some of you weren't too thrilled about some of the horror stories I gave her, but then again what should I say? "Oh hey, lizards make great pets, they like to be petted and played with, and they just love their owners." It's like you get mad when someone glorifies how great they are to own, but then you also get mad when someone tells some of the worst possible scenerios. Either way its a lose lose situation! But hey I'm going to assure you that I am going to leave this forum after today. Even if I did want a monitor I couldn't seriously ask any questions to any of ya'll without getting an unbiased reply. So many of you have so much resentment against me already, it would be pointless. Everyone in here hates me
:*( I think what gets me the most in here is that no one is willing to admit any of their faults and you guys can't be joked around with even in the slightest degree. I think perhaps certain people in here take this or themselves entirely too seriously. But hey, to each their own. And about naming your lizards, I don't care what you name them, name them whatever you want. However if I'm right with my history, the ancient egyptians did at one point and time worship snakes. And so did various other ancient cultures. I personally don't see it or understand why. All I know is, if I were to stand head to toe with a Komodo Dragon, I wouldn't be worshipping it or thinking about how much respect it deserves, I'd be running! There is absolutely no bond to be had between human and reptile. I mean that's why man domesticated dogs right? But monitors are extremely cool looking lizards and do show some signs of intelligence. I'll have to admit, my initial interest in them was because I thought they looked like little velociraptors. But I know that "cool" looking reptile would eventually turn into something that I would have to feed and take care of everyday, and I'm just not thaaat attracted to them. So yeah lucien, your personal preference in names is entirely your business (for the record i had no idea that you named them after ancient dieties!) I guess at least you didn't name them after a sell out heavy metal band! (sorry had to put that in there) I mean come on, Lars?? ahhh dont get me started on him. Well anyways, peace and good luck to everyone in here. After today, you have my word that you will never have to deal with me again. Not as savanmanwithatan and not with Fenderstratguy. I'm going to move to the box turtle forum. Yes I have decided to get a box turtle instead. You gotta love those little things. Now there's a reptile!
Goodbye, the Troll has left the building.
~Mark

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I--
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

I name my reptiles because I have 50 of them, several of which are the same thing, and I need to know which one I'm talking about. And I wouldn't remember a label like 'KSB 3ax' or whatever... And I would also get sick of referring to the monitor lizard as 'The Monitor Lizard', so we call him Tweek. For the record my dog has no idea what her name is and will repsond to any random word as long as it's in the right tone of voice and she feels like it.

That's a cool name. I like it

One of my friends who watches South Park more than I do saw him freak out when we walked into the room and said 'You should call him Tweek'... so we did... That just about sums up his personality.
