HOW LONG?

imridethelghtng Jul 04, 2008 01:26 PM

how long does it take? For a baby that came out early, to absorb yolk? The first baby came out too early.I didnt cut eggs or assist them at all. She just decided it was time on her own.She came out 6pm yesterday CST.And its 1pm CST the following day.Thats 19 hours and still not drawn in.Other than that she is active and healthy. She has been trying to figure out how to escape all night.I just dont know what to do with the remaining yolk.I set her on wet paper towels and left her.Thats all i know to do.

The snake should be fine as long as the yolk sac is getting smaller. I would keep it on wet paper towel as you are and just watch. The yolk will be absorbed, the sac will dry up and then fall off. Just make sure the sac is not twisted and cut off from being absorbed. Is it smaller than it was yesterday?

Its not twisted any.But it doesnt look any smaller today than yesterday. Its pretty big up next to the belly a little larger than a pea.And off the bottom of the pea sized yolk is a long thin piece hanging down like a spaghetti noodle lol.

If it's the size of a pea it's finished. It will dry up and fall of within a day or so.
